Choctaw Landing Will Become Oklahoma's Ninth Casino

Just outside the junction of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana, the Choctaw Nation will open a $165 million casino resort. That casino is Choctaw Landing in Southeastern Oklahoma.

The new facility will be the ninth in the state for the third-largest tribal union in the United States, joining its Oklahoma casino resorts in Durant, Pocola, and Grant.

Choctaw Landing is a four-story building. It will have a 100-room hotel, a pool, restaurants, bars, a beer garden, and a 12,000 square foot retail marketplace.

Choctaw Landing casino will have a total footprint of 200,000 square feet and will open before the end of 2023.

“We are excited to get started on bringing to life what promises to be an amazing entertainment destination for Oklahomans and our friends and neighbors in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana,” said Janie Dillard, Senior Executive Officer for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

“In addition to the gaming, hotel and entertainment amenities, we plan to offer our guests an opportunity to learn more about our history, our culture and what it means to be Choctaw.”

Retaining the Choctaw Nation spirit

The Choctaw Landing name is invoked to remind guests that the resort is meant to feel like home. The construction plans call for the area to overlook the scenic grounds. The interior design will represent the tribe’s culture. It will include historical information about the tribe and the art of Choctaw tribal members.

Hochatown is the location of Choctaw Landing. It is the site of a historical Choctaw Village that members of the tribe still call home.

Another appeal to the tribe is that Choctaw Landing is near popular tourist areas Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park.

Getting down to business for Choctaw Landing

Choctaw Landing will sit in McCurtain County, which has a population of over 30,000. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 14.

The building will be overseen by the Manhattan Construction Company and JCJ Architecture. Both assisted the Choctaw Nation on multiple projects, including the Choctaw Cultural Center and Choctaw Wellness Center. Furthermore, the firms also worked on improvements and updates on the Choctaw Resort in Durant.

The gaming floor is slated to operate 600 modern slot machines and eight gaming tables. Economic research expects the facility to bring in more than 2,000 jobs and a $211 million boost to the local economy.
