After A Two-Year Closure, Palms Las Vegas Announces Re-Opening Date

The first tribal casino in Las Vegas is about to make history. The Palms Las Vegas will finally open to the public after more than two years and an ownership change, marking one of the last necessary actions for Las Vegas to “return to normal.”

The new ownership looks to make an event of the re-opening later this month. All the casino’s amenities from the recent $600 million renovations will be available from the start.

Palms Las Vegas announces opening date

The casino closed in March of 2020 and hasn’t seen its guests since. Soon, that will change, though. On Tuesday, the casino’s new ownership announced it is re-opening the property on Wednesday, April 27.

“It’s an honor and a privilege for us to welcome everyone back to Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas,” said San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority Chairwoman Latisha Casas.

“We look forward to introducing our guests to our rich history, culture, and signature hospitality. We can’t wait to make history together.”

The Palms became the first Las Vegas casino wholly operated and owned by a tribal gaming entity. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, which also operates the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, California, purchased the Palms last year from Station Casinos.

Prior to the ownership change, the previous operator put the property through a comprehensive makeover. The San Manuel Band plans to show that off later this month.

New amenities on display in Palms

According to a press release, the renovation resulted in a lot more accommodations for gamblers when they aren’t at their favorite slot or table. Those include:

39 unique cabanas
Restaurants like Scotch 80 Prime
Casual dining options like Serrano Vista Cafe
Multi-level, 73,000-square-foot office space

The casino plans to mark its opening with a fireworks display on April 27. Fireworks of another kind are still available on the gaming floor, though. The gambling options include more than 1,500 slot machines and over 40 gaming tables.

The games available at those tables include:

Pai Gow Poker
Ultimate Texas Hold’em

After the opening, the final vestiges of the COVID-19 pandemic-related closures will disappear. For tribal gaming, it’s also the beginning of a new era.
